January Fly Fishing Report

I've been guiding and running fishing courses at our three regular winter venues during the last month, finding successful tactics to be much the same in each case.

Loynton Hall, Willington Lake and Marton Heath trout fisheries have all responded consistently to two distinct approaches. Starting the day on intermediate lines with lures or nymphs, then switching to a floating line and long leader during the warmest parts of the day (not that many days could be described as warm at any point)and using buzzers and/or small nymphs.

Even on the coldest days most clients have caught fish, even on the beginners days!

Our winter fly fishing courses will be running until the end of February. So if you want to learn how to catch winter rainbow trout and master nymph fishing tactics book your trips now!
