Fly Fishing Lessons

We offer a range of formats, so you can select one that suits your needs and availability. Choose from: -

• 1-to-1 fly fishing lessons, designed just for you
• Share your fly fishing tuition with friends or family by arranging your own group
•  Join one of our fly fishing courses

Our team of full time instructors are available 7 days per week, all year. Any equipment you require is provided at no extra charge.

All lessons take place at picturesque locations, easily accessed from the counties of Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Northhamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The major cities of Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, London & Oxford are all within one hour’s drive time.

Beginners Fly Fishing Lessons

Beginners Fly Fishing Lessons

The aims of our beginners fly fishing lessons are simple, help you learn to fly fish! Personal tuition in an ideal environment ensures you actively learn new skills on the water, which enable you to go fishing confidently and catch trout on fly. Your itinerary includes: -

• Equipment – what you need, how to set up & what fly to use
• Core overhead cast & roll cast techniques
• Watercraft – where & when to fish
• Effective fishing techniques to get you started

Beginners Fly Fishing Course

Beginners Fly Fishing Courses

A superb introduction to fly fishing course at Loynton Trout Fisheries, located on the county borders of Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire.

The course format is as per our “beginners fly fishing lessons” detailed above. The only difference is you share the day with a group of people who have the same interest as you.

2012 course dates:

• April – Saturday 21st
• May – Saturday 19th
• June – Saturday 16th
• September – Saturday 15th
• October – Saturday 6th

Have your own fly fishing course! Arrange a group of 4 or more people and we will run a course just for you at the same price of £75 per person on a date that suits you.

Stillwater Fly Fishing Lessons

Stillwater Fly Fishing Lessons

Personalised Fly fishing lessons for small stillwaters and large lakes are available to suit your interests. Our instructors discuss what you want to learn/improve prior to your lesson, formulating a plan that makes best use of your time with us. Some examples of topics we can cover are: -

• Review your equipment & casting skills
• Show you how to boost your catches through watercraft & improved fly fishing technique
• Learn you about methods new to you such as boat fishing, stalking, using sinking lines,etc.
• Targeting species other than trout, e.g. pike, carp on fly gear.

River Fly Fishing Lessons

River Fly Fishing Lessons

Often thought more demanding than lakes, river fly fishing requires a different skill set to stillwaters. Lessons are designed for you, however a general itinerary covers: -

• Equipment
• Fly casting skills for rivers & presentation
• Watercraft: – locating trout in a river, entomology to identify what trout are feeding on
• Latest dry/wet fly and nymph fishing techniques to help you fish better & catch more

Prices are £200 full day for 1 angler. Fees for additional people are £100 per person. Locations are the river Wye, Derbyshire Peak District or the river Coln, Gloucestershire. Available April 1st – September 30th.

Good fly casting skills are a key aspect in presenting your fly well, helping you fish efficiently, effectively and enjoyably. Casting lessons are perfect for learning new casts or brushing up your casting skills. Tuition is available for all freshwater & saltwater fly fishing techniques including:

• Overhead fly cast
• Handling strong winds & big flies
• Single and double haul techniques
• Roll & Spey casting techniques
• Advanced presentation casts for river & lake
