River Wye (Derbyshire)
Derbyshire's river Wye is a spring fed limestone stream, winding it's way through scenic valleys of the Peak District National Park, an area of England historically frequented by famous anglers such as Izaak Walton & Charles Cotton. Surrounded by a dramatic backdrop of towering peaks, this extremely rich river benefits from high water quality which is crystal clear and abundant fly life including a prolific mayfly hatch. The river is famous for being the only UK water where rainbow trout breed, maintaining a self sustaining wild population in addition to native brown trout.
Fishing here is unique within the UK, not only in terms of a large population of wild rainbow trout, but the river's nature too. It's like fishing a chalkstream with the character of an upland river, offering world class fly fishing where we combine search techniques with sight fishing to individual trout for action packed sport. So whether you watch a wild rainbow take your dry as it leaps into the air or subtley inhale your nymph, you can be assured of exciting fishing!
